Year End Christmas and New Years in the Virgin Islands.
This is the TOP time to come to the US and British Virgin Islands. BOOK EARLY!! Especially for the New Year’s Week… and please note: All Christmas Charters must end no later than Dec. 28th, and New Year’s Charters cannot begin until the 28th as well, based on schedule at the time of the booking.
Seasons of the year.
Certain areas of the Caribbean for chartering are better than some others. Examples:
Summer time Caribbean chartering
It’s a distinct escape from the heat of Florida since in Florida, Texas, Louisiana and many other Southern states, the winds go light and the humidity is very high.
In the Virgins? Much lower humidity, and the winds usually blow East at about 12 kts (about 14 MPH) or so. This just added by a Facebook friend who lives on Virgin Gorda, BVI: August 4th, 2017: “HIGH FOR THE DAY 85 degrees, Winds 12 kts from the East”
RE: Summer: Of course, some things should be considered:
Storms: Yes, this is a possibility and one should always buy Trip Insurance for funds’ protection. It’s not very costly, frankly, to consider ANY time of the year in case of issues that might make it impossible for you to come to your charter. We do recommend it routinely.
Also to be considered in August and much of September: Many charter yachts head South to locations like the Grenadines. Some haul out but many offer charters there. It’s a great time to inquire about Grenada and St. Lucia, St. Vincent charters. There’s so much to see and do… and the weather is lovely.
Summer Chartering in the Virgin Islands: Many land based restaurants, bars and shops do close from around 1st week in August until the end of September. Not all, but many. But for real: You’re on an All-Inclusive charter, so not to worry about great food and drink. And the islands never close!
Stress relief… it’s a “getaway from it all”… At least for a week’s time. And when you go back, you’ll be a whole new person! We see it all the time.
There is often “WiFi on the Water, but you won’t care very much. 😊
So, in reply to those who ask: “What is there to do while chartering??” You’ll all collapse at the end of the day and sleep like you haven’t in a very long time…!!
